My name is Nicki Calfee and
I am thrilled to be spending my second year as a head teacher with BMS, again with the 1B class! There's something particularly
special to me about the type of person and student children are at this age.
Between the rapidly developing physical and verbal skills, the fervent
honesty displayed, and the fierce emotions shared, toddlers make some of the
most exciting and fun students to collaborate and learn with.
I was
born and raised in St. Louis, MO and will always be a Midwesterner at
heart. At an early age I began dancing, singing, and acting. Because
of my lasting and deeply rooted love for these art forms, I went on to obtain a
BFA in Musical Theater from Syracuse University. There's something
special my theater degree has given me that allows me to freely play with and
engage children.
Now that I’ve decided to teach, I am
currently working towards my master’s degree in Early Childhood, Special and
General Education. Once finished with my
degree I look forward to continuing my teaching career in addition to working
with adults (both teachers and parents), working to improve the ways children
are respected and valued as very capable and unique individuals.
I also enjoy photography, hiking, riding
my bike along the Hudson, going to the movies, baking, and sewing! The beautiful blonde featured above is my fraternal twin sister - my partner in crime!
