Today we
took a particular interest in facial features and talking about what a self-portrait
is. Janet spent time with a few of the
children, individually, to focus on looking at the face and putting it on
paper. I also sat with some of the
students and took pictures as we talked about the different elements of the
face. Janet and I will finish working
with the rest of the class as the week continues. This new interest will be explored with our
other interests!

One of our art spaces was recently reorganized. The space holds many of the activities that are also available in the classroom (like sand and water and drawing) but the change of scenery seems to really benefit the class!
Annabelle says to Misha, "Let's look through the window!"
Ethan, "House, house"
Part of how Janet works on self portraits is by first taking a photo of the artist and presenting it on the spot, with the camera's viewfinder. It seems like a nice idea to have the artists face frozen, still for copying.
Colette's picture for reproduction.
James put these animals in the box. I asked him what the animals were doing, he said, "Hiding."
Pearl's image.
I told Colette she could begin eating, that I got a spoonful all ready for her. James heard this and said, "Eat. Eat!" And Colette did.
